Mongolian Muslim Societies Federation (MMSF)

The Mongolian Muslim Societies Federation (MMSF) is a Muslim community organization based in Chingeltei District, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. JAKIM’s published list records Haj Dr. Khadys Batyrbyek as its chairman and gives islam.mn as its website, but that site was not reachable at the time of writing, so public information about the federation comes mainly from official listings and from Mongolian companies that reference it.

The federation’s visible halal role centers on slaughter. Mongema LLC, a meat supplier that describes itself as Mongolia’s largest beef exporter to the Russian market for more than a decade, states that it provides both traditional and certified halal slaughtering in collaboration with the federation and the Mongolian Agency for Standardization and Metrology, supplying whole carcasses and custom cuts in chilled or frozen form to buyers in Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Japan, and the Middle East.

The wider context is a small but established Muslim community. Muslims account for roughly three percent of Mongolia’s population and are predominantly ethnic Kazakh, concentrated in Bayan-Olgii Province in the west. Halal capability has become more relevant as Mongolia builds meat exports; the national standards agency gained accreditation for halal food certification in December 2023 and issued its first certificates to local food companies in 2024.
