Shanghai Global Halal Certification Service (SGH)

Shanghai Global Halal Certification Service (SGH) is a halal certification body based in Shanghai, China. The company was formally established in October 2022, although its team traces its halal consulting, audit, and certification work back to 2017. SGH describes its mission as helping Chinese enterprises bring halal compliant products to international markets, guiding clients in building a halal management system before any certificate is issued.

The body certifies food, beverages, cosmetics, chemical products, and biological or microbiological products. Its published certification process runs from application submission and document review through a site audit covering production lines, raw material storage, processing equipment, and warehouses, with product sample testing where required, before a certification decision is made. Certificates issued by SGH are valid for two years.

SGH reports a team of more than twenty staff, including three sharia auditors, seven technical auditors, and a three member impartiality committee, and says most team members have been directly involved in halal consulting or auditing for over five years. JAKIM recognition of SGH took effect on 30 January 2026 through an amendment to the Malaysian recognition list, making it one of the newer Chinese entries. The SGH website carries content in both English and Chinese and remains the primary public reference for its services.
