About Polski Instytut Halal (Polish Institut of Halal)

Polski Instytut Halal (Polish Institute of Halal, PIH) is a nonprofit halal certification body based in Poznan, Poland. Established in 2010, it has built more than fourteen years of experience certifying and promoting halal products and services, and it is widely described as the most accredited halal certifier in Poland. The institute operates in a country that ranks among Europe’s larger producers of halal certified meat, much of it destined for export markets.

PIH certifies across six sectors: animal slaughter, food and beverages, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and packaging. Audits are carried out against the standards of the recognising authorities, including Malaysia’s MS 1500:2019, the OIC/SMIIC 1:2019 standard, the Emirati UAE.S 2055-2 and Gulf GSO 2055-2 requirements, and the Saudi adoption SFDA.FD/GSO 2055-2.

The institute has assembled a broad portfolio of international recognitions. It was recognised by EIAC of the United Arab Emirates on 7 September 2017, by Malaysia’s JAKIM on 21 May 2018, by Saudi Arabia’s SFDA on 3 November 2020, by the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology on 19 April 2021, by Saudi Arabia’s SASO on 8 November 2022, and by Indonesia’s BPJPH on 3 May 2024. It is also recognised by MUIS in Singapore, CICOT in Thailand, the Ministry of Public Health in Qatar, and IMANOR in Morocco. PIH is a member of the World Halal Food Council and the Asia Halal Accreditation Council, and it operates an online certificate verification service so buyers can confirm the status of certificates it has issued.
