About ISA
Islamic Services of America, Inc (ISA) is a halal certification and auditing body headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Established in 1975 by William (Bill) Aossey Jr., it describes itself as the longest standing halal certification body in the United States and among the first in North America. The organization began as a community services group and shifted to halal verification and certification in the late 1970s and early 1980s, when demand grew for a US based program serving exporters to Muslim majority markets. ISA marked its 50th anniversary in July 2025.
