About FAMBRAS Halal
Fambras Halal Certificacao Ltda, trading as FAMBRAS Halal, is a Brazilian halal certification body headquartered in Sao Paulo, with branch offices in Argentina, Colombia, and Paraguay. It grew out of the Federation of Muslim Associations of Brazil (FAMBRAS), which retains the social, cultural, educational, and religious side of the organization, and it describes itself as the largest certifier of halal products and services in Latin America and a pioneer of the halal system in Brazil.
The body certifies cattle and poultry slaughter, industrial food and beverage production, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and logistics operations, work that sits at the center of Brazil’s large halal poultry and beef export trade. Its audits reference Malaysian standards such as MS 1500, Gulf standards including GSO 2055-1, GSO 2055-2, and GSO 993, and the Indonesian HAS 23000 scheme, alongside food safety and animal welfare frameworks. In 2017 it obtained accreditation of its quality management system on the basis of ISO 17065 and GSO 2055-2 through the GCC Accreditation Center, which the company states made it the first certifier in Latin America to do so.
Beyond its Gulf accreditations, FAMBRAS Halal lists approvals from the Saudi Halal Center under SFDA, SASO, the UAE bodies MOIAT and ENAS, Turkey’s Halal Accreditation Agency HAK, and Morocco’s IMANOR, together with recognition from BPJPH in Indonesia, MUIS in Singapore, CICOT in Thailand, and the Qatar Ministry of Public Health. Malaysian approval through JAKIM supports Brazilian exporters shipping to Malaysia, and the body participates in the International Halal Authority Board.
